Q-Spot™ Qurriculum

CE-Accredited · Q-Spot Qurriculum · The Vulvar Course

Every provider sees this patient.

Few were ever trained for her.

Vulvar dryness, pain, and the itch-scratch cycle walk into OB-GYN offices,

primary care visits, and NP/APP practices every single week yet formal

exam training rarely covers it in depth.

This course closes that gap, whatever your specialty.

THE PRoblem

A patient comes in with vulvar dryness, pain, and itching and scratching only makes it worse.

It doesn't matter what's on your door OB-GYN, NP, APP, or primary care. This patient reaches whoever she trusts first, and most clinical training never went deep enough on exam technique, microscopy interpretation, or biopsy procedure to meet that moment with full confidence.

Missed or delayed diagnoses when exam technique or icrscopy reads are inconsistent

Cases referred out that could be confidently managed in-house

Patient hesitation and eroded trust when a provider seems unsure during a sensitive exam

WHOS

WHO IS THIS FOR

Different specialty. Same exam room moment.

However you arrived at seeing these patients, the moment is the same: someone in front of you needs a clear next step for vulvar dryness, pain, or itching and training didn't fully prepare you for it.

OB-GYN

Standardize what's already instinct

Turn years of case-by-case judgment into a repeatable, trauma-informed exam framework you can teach and rely on.

NP / APP

Close the training gap directly

Get the depth of exam, microscopy, and biopsy guidance most programs never covered without needing a specialist referral to learn it.

PRIMARY CARE

Keep the patient, keep the trust

Manage more vulvar concerns confidently in-house, instead of referring out a relationship you've already built.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Most providers were never taught how to look at a vulva and know what they're seeing.

Vulvar dermatoses get missed, misdiagnosed, or referred out not because they're rare, but because training skips them. This course fills that gap: how to examine, differentiate, and treat the conditions that walk into your office every week, whether or not you specialize in this.

Patients have been told it's 'just dryness' or 'just yeast' for years. This is how you finally give them the right answer.

What You Will Learn:

  • 1. Vulvar Dermatology Foundations

Foundational anatomy and physiology of the vulva, vagina, and pelvic floor; the normal vulvovaginal exam and its variants; red flags for vulvar dermatoses; and the precise dermatologic terminology every provider needs for accurate documentation.

  • 2. Dermatoses Presenting with Pruritus & GSM

Lichen sclerosus, contact dermatitis, and lichen simplex chronicus recognition, differentials, and treatment. Plus vulvovaginal candidiasis, pruritic STIs like trichomonas and genital warts, and genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM).

  • 3. Dermatoses Presenting with Pain & Erythema

HSV and herpes zoster recognition and treatment, including suppression therapy in pregnancy. Plus lichen planus, desquamative inflammatory vaginitis, vulvodynia, folliculitis, plasma cell vulvitis, psoriasis, and hidradenitis suppurativa.

  • 4. Psychological & Sexual Impact of Vulvar Dermatoses

Body image, sexual identity, and mental health effects of chronic vulvar conditions, plus clinical approaches including sex therapy integration and partner involvement. Includes validated assessment tools like the FSFI and Vulvar QOL Index.

  • 5. Vulvovaginal Hygiene, Lubricants & Moisturizers

Evidence-based hygiene practices and product selection, including osmolality, pH compatibility, and ingredients to avoid like glycerin, parabens, and warming agents. Plus barrier protection protocols and safe alternatives.

  • 6. The Vulvovaginal Exam & Toolkit Resources

A hands-on guide to performing the exam with trauma-informed technique, wet mount microscopy interpretation, and vulvar biopsy plus quick-reference tools for corticosteroid potency and telling apart the three "lichens.
